ACGME-accredited since 1975, the UCLA-Olive View Internal Medicine Program (previously the UCLA-San Fernando Valley Program) is based at the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. It is one of two UCLA-sponsored programs in internal medicine, the other being the UCLA Internal Medicine program at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center. Olive View incorporated UCLA in its name, becoming Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in 1992. In May 1997, Olive View-UCLA Medical Center became a part of ValleyCare, which maintains responsibility for the care of the medically indigent, low income, uninsured residents of the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.
Olive View-UCLA Medical CenterOlive View-UCLA Medical Center (OVMC) is a county hospital located in the San Fernando Valley, about 30 minutes north of the UCLA campus. This hospital is one of six operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. The facility is a 220 bed medical center that serves the needs of low income and indigent patients, as well as the surrounding middle class community.Attendings are faculty members of the UCLA School of Medicine and UCLA residents rotate through and cover the obstetric, gynecologic and gynecologic oncology services at OVMC.The fellow works with a team of residents and is responsible for the day-to-day clinical activities of the service. Surgical cases are performed through open and laparoscopic approaches. The fellow participates actively during surgical cases as either the primary surgeon or co-surgeon.
Olive View Sylmar
Fellows attend outpatient clinics and are actively involved in all aspects of the care of the gynecologic oncology patient. Fellows have their chemotherapy continuity clinic where they learn the principles of chemotherapy administration and management of its complications and side effects from the gynecologic oncology and medical oncology faculty.
