Being a part of the oldest wargaming community on the net.If you are already a member then feel free to. Thanks chaps.Well I finally got it completed, gotta be a record for me as from start to end I did this in a week More pics posted in the competition thread. My daughter also wanted to get involved so she made a start on this stone cairn. Has an expanded foam core surrounded with pebbles from the garden and a pice of slate stuck on top. All based on an old CD.
Once the glue is dry she'll be painting it up. (ignore the round box underneath - that's just to make moving the piece easier.)And that's me done. Got to get some shut eye as up at 5am ( UK time), then off to the airport and flying to Poland. Back on Friday evening. This message was edited 3 times. Last update was at 2013/06/23 21:23:30. Save The Rebellion Save The Dream
Is it supposed to be something like a grave? Like some peoples used to burry their fallen kings in? Or will it have a statue on top? The round box I think would support that idea quite well!Well, the flocking went a bit pear shaped at the start, but I was able to save it without having to redo.Yes, it's a burial mound and is just a pile of stones placed over the body of whoever it was that died - most likely a Celtic king. Not planning on keeping the box underneath - was just using it so that the base didn't stick to the table. Cormadepanda wrote:Your daughter has an eye for epic. Your work that is nice.
More daughter. Plastic lawn is a sad lawn. Mowing is good for the soul vacuuming is self explanitory. Thanks Panda, she just read your comment and is very happy Plastic lawn is awesome - my neighbours are out every sunny weekend mowing, raking and mulching. Me, I just go out and vacuum up some leaves or walk round picking the odd one up, then I can relax back in a reclining garden chair with beer in hand while the mowers are still buzzing awaySo. My daughter (13) finished the stone cairn and here it is.I'm suitably impressed with her skillsThis message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 2013/07/07 19:15:57. Looking forward to that progressing.Look no further.Update from last post.
Oil barrels dry, now to add the end caps - created a small spacer out of card and put the basic tube over this. Put a pre-sized end cap in, a bit of glue (superglue or wood / pva glue is effective), then using an AA battery (which is slightly smaller than the tube) pushed the cap down onto the spacer and allow the glue to do it's thing.
For majority of barrels I'm only doing one end as they will be standing up right.Next task is to add the mid rings on the barrels - a pencil and some blu-tack used to create guide lines at the same height of each barrelNow, slight deviation from original plan - the wire I had to create the rings was too big, instead I found that sandwich bag ties was perfect, so glued these round each barrel. Damn fiddly though.Last step, thin paper strip glued top and bottom.Et voila, lots of barrels.Next, making a pallet for ammo crates.Cut equal lengths of scrap sprueDouble up some cereal box card to make thicker card, cut into strips and glue to sprue.Ta da. One palletNate that the last picture here shows ammo crates on the pallet, I need to make more of these and will document the steps in the next update (forgot to photo the build for these ones).
Also need to work some on the pallet to make it look more wood, less cardboard. Vik, I'll take a look at the pallet tomorrow and see if it needs more work or notSo.
Some more kidz work, this time by my lad (9yr old)He's building a stone tower, WFB style. The roof will be romovable as he wants to use it as a pencil holder. BTW, he took all the pics as well.Basic tower is a thick cardboard tube, approx 10' high. It's stuck to a shaped hardboard base. Door and windows cut out by me, but rest is all his own workWorse part of the build is always roof tiles - he got a little bored so gave up and worked on the front door insteadSummer hols are nearly upon us so expect updates soon on this piece. This message was edited 1 time. Save the Rebellion! Save the dream. Joel North Blocked Unblock Follow Following. May 23, 2017. In the wake of Worlds and the build up to the Euros, I’ve been considering a switch to Rebels.
Our summer holidays are almost over. To be fair we have still two weks of ´em. The end is nigh^^the tower looks very cool. I know of the frustration the young ones so easily have to face.
I wish my kids would be a bit more of a longer breath when trying to introduce them to the fun world of hobby work. (well they´re still only 7 and 5 years old. )i think this will be a great looking tower. Be sure to tell him that i too have way back then started with such projects.
I once made a tower with PVA and small pebbles and actually stonewalled them pebble on pebble.that took literally ages.well it felt like that^^i hope he wont loose interest in this. As i think the potential of a nice item is right there. And the best part is he will have fun with that even while doing his homework.maybe add a note pad holder as some sort of wall with battlements.
I bet he would like a complete set of castel associated desktop utilities^^. ONE MORE SLEEP UNTIL I GET TO SEE ROGUE ONE OH MY GOODNESS!!! I don’t even know what to do with myself, I just want it to be tomorrow night already! I’ve already checked off one my pre-Rogue One activities this week, which was re-watching the episodes of Clone Wars that feature Saw Gerrera, who is in Rogue One played by Forest Whitaker. If this sounds like a fun way to roll in Rogue One to you as well, you’ll want to check out Season 5, and he’s in all of these episodes:. A War on Two Fronts. Front Runners. The Soft War. Tipping PointsI forgot until I watched these episodes again the other night that Saw was actually a bit arrogant, not terribly unlike Anakin.
But it’s not like his confidence isn’t warranted; with the help of Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, he becomes a more focused, more tactful warrior. He’s also very quick to think of solutions, and quick to achieve those as well. But it’s his aggressive disposition that make him less qualified to lead the group of Onderon rebels than his sister, Steela.I have to admitone of my favorite things about Saw Gerrera (besides that he’s badass and gets the job done) is that he chose Ahsoka to help him learn how to immobilize these Seperatist droids that are otherwise unbeatable with their very Violet from the Incredibles-like shields. And she’s obviously an excellent teacher. My hero!Just look at him go. Okay, so if you’re unfamiliar with his Clone Wars arc and plan on watching his episodes for the first time soonSPOILERS AHEAD! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!I believe I’ve mentioned before how excited I am that we are finally getting a live action version of a previously exclusive to Clone Wars character, because I adore the series and it’s just awesome how everything connects in the Star Wars Universe.
And this paves the way for an Ahsoka movie, or so I like to dream; Dave Filoni was at the recent world premiere for Rogue One in Los Angeles, so I’m hoping there’s a Rebels reference in there somewhere. Guys, I might pass out from excitement if Saw ends up referencing his training from my darling Ahsoka Tano. That would seriously be so amazing.Aside from the general excitement that Clone Wars is being tied in to the new films, I’m very interested in Saw because when we met him, he was a very confident, aggressive, and passionate young man. I don’t know exactly how old he’s supposed to be, but he seems to be in his early 20’s. Towards the end of this whole Onderon tale, the group of rebels decide that his sister Steela is their perfect leader. At first, Saw is visibly a bit jealous, but eventually he concedes that his sister was the right choice.Despite my feelings towards Steela, she was indeed a smart and courageous leader.
Obviously I didn’t like her at first because she’s a major bitch to Ahsoka just because Ahsoka also knows Lux, the handsome young Seperatist that Ahsoka shared a kiss with in one episode and has had a bit of a crush on. Alright, calm down, it wasn’t an actual romantic kiss; it was in a facade that she was Lux’s fiance to cover up that Ahsoka was a Jedi. Anyway, clearly Steela also has the hots for Lux and is unreasonably rude to Ahsoka in the beginning.
But obviously my woman is the better person and even reaches out to Steela when she stormed off in frustration during the training that Obi Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka were conducting. Steela lightened up a little at that point, and then she became the rebels’ leader and everything was going smoother than they planned during a rescue of both Saw and their former, rightful King. That was, until Steela was hanging from a cliff. Ahsoka was lifting her with the Force until the Seperatists’ ship tank thing shot her in the shoulder, causing her to lose her hold on Steela. Steela fell to her death. Poor Saw immediately blamed himself; I think he had hit that ship earlier, but it all happens so fast I already can’t remember (my viewing was 3 nights ago).

Ahsoka offers her condolences but Saw is actually kinda cold in return, saying that it’s over with, and walks away. Saw was just a young man at this point, and just lost the only family he had left to war. Fast forward to the period Rogue One takes place in, long after the Clone Wars and the Republic and the Seperatists, but the Empire been around long enough to destroy so many things at this point.
In pictures and what we have seen from the trailers, Saw has one leg that has been replaced with a prosthetic of some sort. You can tell just by looking at him that he’s just been fighting his whole life, stuck in a never-ending cycle of war. But he’s still passionate about fighting the good fight. Also, watch him open this trailer.
